Yes — we take this seriously. Here's what that means in plain English:
Your data lives on dedicated servers in Germany, with encrypted backups replicated to Finland.
We don't use AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or any other hyperscale cloud provider. We like knowing exactly which rack, in which building, in which country our customers' data sits — that's not a guarantee you get with cloud services. It also means your data stays inside the EU and under EU/GDPR jurisdiction, full stop.
Yes, at any time — and we mean actually delete, not deactivate.
When you confirm, everything we hold about you disappears in one go — your logged days, your location history, your SRT answers, any accountant share links, and all our email records for you. If you have an active subscription, we cancel it for you at the same time. Our backups in Finland are rolled over within 30 days, so your data is fully gone from every copy we keep by then too.
If you'd rather we did it for you, or you've lost access to your account, use the form below and we'll handle it manually.
Use the contact form below this FAQ. Messages go straight to a human inbox — we aim to reply within 48 hours (usually much sooner on weekdays).
If it's urgent and about billing or account access, mention that in the subject and we'll prioritise it.
An Android app is currently in development — and it's being built in a way that stays true to what this tool is about.
Most location apps track you continuously in the background. Ours won't. Instead, the app will softly check your location once a day, at midnight, by asking the Google location API where your device is. Nothing in between, no constant pinging, no movement tracking.
The next time you log in, the app will gently say something like "it looks like you may have spent midnight in the UK on Tuesday — would you like to log that day?" and you decide. We will never auto-populate your day count. The whole point of this tool is that you own the record — so confirming each day stays your job, not ours.
An iOS app will follow once the Android version is settled.
In the meantime — or if you'd rather not install anything at all — you can add Tax Residency Checker to your phone's home screen in a couple of taps, and it behaves like any other app: its own icon, opens full-screen, no browser bars.
How to install the web app:
Once installed, it opens from your home screen exactly like any other app.
